Give the gift of hope, help and housing this holiday!
We're at it again! CrowdRise has challenged us as we seek to raise funds this holiday to serve families. If we win this challenge, then they will share a financial gift with COTS to further our impact among families experiencing homelessness!
Paul Walker came to COTS Emergency Shelter for assistance and through the support of our programs and services, is now a transitional housing resident at COTS. This is what he has to say about homelessness. Quite frankly, we agree. Anyone can be one life event away from the spiral that leads to homelessness.
Your gifts will help move families from poverty to progress by way of COTS’ Passport to Self-Sufficiency(TM). This methodology helps families reach their housing, economic, health, education, and career goals, by way of coaching, mentorship, and support to overcome homelessness and break the cycle of poverty for themselves and future generations.
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation has named COTS (Coalition On Temporary Shelter) as one of the two 2014 Neighborhood Builders. The program is a strategic investment in communities that combines $200,000 in flexible funding with leadership training for high-performing nonprofits and their executives. (Read More)

Happenings at COTS
We are excited to announce that we’ve been selected as a 2014 Neighborhood Builder by Bank of America! This $200,000 in flexible funding, along with leadership training for Delphia Simmons, COTS' Passport to Self-Sufficiency Director, will help us to deepen our efforts to help families obtain permanent housing and establish stability to function as a healthy family unit.
“We are thrilled that Bank of America has selected COTS to join the class of Neighborhood Builders for 2014,” said Cheryl Johnson, CEO at COTS. “Connecting with the community in which we live and serve is important to fostering strong relationships between our agency, our neighbors and our clients. Forming partnerships to serve families in need helps to empower families experiencing homelessness. We thank Bank of America for investing in families, look forward to launching this life-changing initiative and will eagerly continue to build partnerships to help re-establish housing and stabilize families for generations to come. Together we all can take pride in helping others succeed.”
An award Ceremony honoring COTS and fellow award recipient, Southwest Detroit Business Association, will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Garden Theater in Detroit, MI.
