After two months in COTS' Emergency Shelter, Felicia and her family moved into COTS on the Boulevard, a transitional housing program for families. "I love the independence that my family has in our apartment," Felicia says. " We have our own space and are slowly building our lives back up. It's a daily struggle, but COTS is here to give me and my family the support we need.
Unable to care for her dying husband at home, Felicia made the difficult
decision to move him into a nursing home. On top of daily living expenses,
the financial burden of the medical costs was more than she could handle.
Shortly after her husband passed away, Felicia along with her children and
her granddaughter were evicted from their home.
Felicia is working hard to recover from the financial upheaval and the
emotional loss all while looking for a job. "I'm not waiting idly by,
though," She says. "I'm volunteering at COTS to help keep the clothing
boutique nice and organized. I believe that we all have to pay it
forward."
Transitional Housing
"I look forward to being self-sufficient again. To have to depend on someone else is difficult, but you have to do what you need to do to survive."
-Felicia, Transitional Housing Resident

With the guidance of a Case Planner, COTS' Transitional Housing residents are able to work and pay income-appropriate fees for housing. All residents have access to supportive services while part of the 24 month program.
Peterboro provides 57 units of transitional housing for single men and women. Peggy's Place and COTS on the Boulevard provide a total of 30 units of transitional housing for women with children and single women. New Beginnings provides 23 housing units for domestic violence survivors.
